About us
Why are we here?
IAS was founded for the sole purpose of saving lives, creating opportunity for self help, and providing dignity for human beings through transformation that transcends emergency aid and humanitarian development.
We collaborate with local partners and churches, thereby creating a stable platform in a well functioning environment. But we also operate in some of the most unstable areas of the world. Especially in Central Africa and the Horn of Africa, where we build platforms for help, development and improved human rights in places, often in areas where we are first movers.
Our view of the human being builds upon a biblical foundation, believing that all human beings are created in God’s image, with a spirit, body and soul. This belief underlines all of our work and in order to reflect that we operate through many different “channels''. We are engaged in humanitarian aid, long term development aid, self-empowerment as well as supporting the persecuted, giving new hope to the hopeless. Depending on which “channel” we are working through, we use different ways of communication. Whether its humanitarian aid, long term development projects (IAS Transform), loyalty programmes, donations, fundraising and school collaboration (IAS Engage) or integrated mission, including support to persecuted chritians (IAS Serve).
Mission
A transformed society
We want to see societies transformed, reflecting God's justice, love and peace. A society where citizens live in respect and compassion towards one another, fulfilling the spiritual, mental and material needs of human beings.
Values
The biblical understanding of mission drives everything that IAS Denmark does. The marginalised and underprivileged population groups are our main focus in the way we live and convey the christian message. Our main values revolve around the following principles:
Breaking boundaries: To transcend borders, distances, religions and taboos - meeting the human being. Partnerships at eye level - Our wish is to promote equal collaborations to ensure independent and locally anchored organisations. Ensure equality and respect in our relationships
Dialog: As a basis for understanding and as a tool to help promote social justice
Generosity: Treat each other with human dignity and love. In our work and in the way we engage with each other.
Optimism: Possibilities are our stepping stone and we are not letting challenges or obstacles limit ourselves.
Rings in the water
The logo of IAS resembles rings in the water. Our wish is to send the message that even though our work only looks like a drop in the ocean, the rings in the water reach far beyond that.
Like the water hand pump that was intended for 200 people, ends up having an impact on up to 1000 people. Or the student who receives education, brings it home to parents and siblings who also benefits from the newly attained knowledge. The pick and the seeds that get passed out to the peasants, provides enough food for a whole family.
Our desire is to initiate projects that have a great impact and where the positives spread and multiply - just like the rock that gets thrown in the water, creating rings in the water.
